This week I watched this youtube video: https://edtechuvic.ca/edci136/2025/02/13/week-6-artificial-intelligence-academic-integrity-and-more/ about Gen AI and reflected on it. I believe that AI has the ability to be very helpful if used correctly. I use AI for my day to day work when editing photos. AI has the ability to de-noise the photos (take the grain out) and it has been a complete game changer. One of the first things Lucas Wright talked about in this video was how he had always struggled in english, even just writing emails, and how helpful he finds AI with email structure etc. I find this relatable because I use AI to help tweak emails I have written, or help me come up with ideas etc.
The main thing that Lucas Wright talked about that I found interesting was the sustainable use of Gen AI. He talked about how AI has a significant environmental footprint (energy and water usage) that users should consider, I have put a quote about this below. I am curious how this environment impact will increase as the usage of AI continues to increase, and how this will effect the world.

The use of Gen AI in schools is also interesting to me, and I wonder how this will progress over time. Teachers are already struggling to tell the difference between human and AI written work. I was curious what percent of high school students use AI for schoolwork and as I show below, it was up to 84% in 2025.
