Well before looking at this weeks topics i actually didnt even know what ergonomics was! Now that I have the Office Ergonomics Module course, I am ready to write this blog post. I learnt that ergonomics is actually a designing products and workplaces to fit a user, instead of the other way around. I also learned that eye sight seems to be a main topic, and thats what I have chosen to talk about today.
If you wear contacts like me, you know the end of day feeling. when we are looking at screens our blink rate drops by up to 66%. this dries out contacts faster, and after diving into this recent course i’ve found a few ways to deal with it. The first thing I want to do is try wearing my blue light glasses more when home around the house or on my computer. These glasses will help filter out the harsh blue tint of the screen, and increase contrast. By switching into glasses in the afternoon, it will allow my corneas to breathe. This will mean my eyes wont have to work quite as hard to focus on test, and will lead to my eyes not feeling so tired by the end of the day.
This weeks topic has given me a new perspective on how important my eyes are and that i need to value them more. Ergonomics has taught me I need to protect my eyes instead of my eyes trying to protect themselves!!
